Oktoberfest 2018

Join NYU Alumni for Oktoberfest in Munich with an Optional Extension Brussels

Itinerary:

DAY 1: Munich

Upon arrival in Munich, you will be met by your expert local guide and transferred to your hotel for confirmed early check-in to rest from your overnight flight.

In the afternoon, your guide will take you on a walking tour through the bustling center of Munich. You will see the popular Viktualienmarkt, Marienplatz and Frauenkirche.

This walking tour ends at the famous Hofbräuhaus for a festive Welcome Dinner with your group.

This historic beer hall is considered the heart of the Hofbräuhaus. Hofbräuhaus beer was once brewed here underneath the cross vaults. Up to 1,300 guests sit at large family-style tables, some of which have been there since 1897 as testified by the many initials, names and comments engraved on them.

Overnight in Munich: Super 8 Munich City West

Meals Included: Dinner

DAYS 2 & 3: Munich

Today, you will visit the largest beer festival in the world! Thanks to the 16th-century Bavarian Beer Purity Law still in place today, Oktoberfest guests are guaranteed the highest quality Bavarian brews at the event. In addition to the beer, traditional Bavarian food is also served, including Hendl, saltroasted chicken, and Dampfnudl, sweet dumplings served with vanilla sauce.

Oktoberfest is known as one giant, joyous party, with Bavarian Blasmusik (brass band music) played in every tent, each of which has its own personality. You will enjoy what locals call Gemütlichkeit—a friendliness, comfortable coziness and relaxed appreciation for the old-fashioned good things in life. In addition to participating in the colorful Bavarian triathlon of eating, drinking and singing, you can also wander the 103-acre grounds and take a ride on the carousel or see the Wiesn faigrounds from the top of the Ferris wheel.

On the morning of Day 3, you will head to Viktualienmarkt, Munich`s traditional food market, for an in depth tour and tasting of various typical specialties at different market stalls.

Afterwards, you’ll return to Oktoberfest to continue in the festivities and celebration.

In the evening, your Farewell Dinner will be hosted at the traditional Bavarian restaurant, Zum Franziskaner. It is located in the center of this pulsating city, and offers a blend of different styles making this place a meeting place for connoisseurs of high class food, local and international celebrities, business people and lovers of a cherished Bavarian light meal. Zum Franziskaner is the only large scale restaurant in Munich to be noted in the influential French restaurant guide, the Gault & Millau.
